  Planets!

Most star systems have a planet orbiting them and these planets have several things that you need to pay attention to, Climate, Stress, Soil rating, minerals, natives and surface items. You build your bases on the planets.

Ground Bases are built on planets. Any number of races can build a base on the same planet. You can build ground structures at your ground base to improve the happiness of the colonies, recruit more troops, mine and smelt minerals, produce income, and defend the base from attack. Most planets allow you to build a number of food and income producing farms on them. The success of the farm depends on the planet`s climate and horticultural conditions.

Planets have mineral ore buried in their cores that mineral mines can extract with Mines produce 75% pure metals and 25% ore. Ore is a waste product that smelters can turn into metals.[more]

Planet Climate:

The type of star that the planet orbits is the primary factor in determining the climate of a planet. The rest of their heat comes from atomic reactions on there own core and from hyper dimensional energies. The climate rating is a number ranging from 0 to 100. A rating of 0 is very cold and a rating of 100 is very hot. Climate can be changed using ship devices or based structures. If the climate range of planet is in the range that your race`s farms can function they will produce one food unit and one megacredit each.

The soil rating is the maximum number of farms that the planet can support at once. It is a total of farms belonging to all races that can be built on a planet. As new farms are built the planet`s farm land is appropriated by that race reducing the amount of farm land available to other races on the planet. The maximum rate that most races can build new farms is 10 farms per turn.(host option)

Stars:
Each planet has a star, and there are 21 different types of starts each with it's own temputure range, and that effects what temputure range a planet will be. [more]

Natives:

Many planets have intelligent native life that will move into your ground base if they like your race. The natives may take actions to help you. Such as provide cargo items, build ship parts and gather minerals. They pretty much do what every they wish independent of your control.[more]

Often times space junk will fall from space and provide raw minerals. Contraband and natural growing foods can sometimes be found on some planets.

Super Weapon Effects on Planets:

A planet can be destroyed by the Super Laser super weapon . The resulting asteroid field can be transformed back into a planet by the Protomatter Cannon super weapon. Of course this would also destroy any bases on that planet.[more]

Hyper Dimensional Physics

When the stress level of a planet exceeds 1000 there is a chance the planet will explode and for each point above 1000 equals the percent chance of explosion. 1001 Stress will only have a 1% chance while 1100 gives you 100% chance explosion. Planet explosion takes place after movement, but before ground base chunnel.

When planets get over 900 stress they are quite unstable and minerals from the planets core make their way to the surface. You wil quickly find a new source of minerals from these planets.

There are three important factors to remember when dealing with planet stress.

Hyper dimensional stress

Hyper dimensional stress is measured in Hoaglands. If a planet ever reaches a hyper dimensional stress level that is greater than 1000 units the planet is in danger of exploding.

Hyper dimensional inertia The resistance to a change in the planets base frequency. The higher the inertia the less likely the base frequency will change. The inertia is determined by the elements that make up the planet's core. Planets with a copper core have high inertia, planets with a nickel or iron core have a very low inertia and tend to be unstable. Inertia allows the planet to produce heat, warming the planet's climate.
Hyper dimensional base frequency The amount of energy that is added to the pool of hyper dimensional stress that the planet already has.
